The World Wildlife Fund just released its annual list of the most threatened species for 2009:

Javan Rhinoceros - less than 60, Vaquita - less than 150, Cross River Gorilla - less than 300, Sumatran Tiger - less than 450, North Pacific Right Whale - less than 500, Black-Footed Ferret - less than 500, Borneo Pygmy Elephant - less than 1,000, Giant Panda - less than 1.600, Polar Bear - less than 2,000-2,500.

And many other species are at greater risk than ever before because of habitat loss, poaching and climate change.

I personally feel bad for these animals. If you know about poaching go as soon as possible and alert the authorities. We can't let this trend continue unchanged!

Dude, that sucks big time. I feel sorry for some of the animals, especially the cute panda bears. I mean.... WHAT DID THEY DO TO DESERVE THIS? Just because rich ladies want fur and animal tokens... this means we have to kill every single animal on the planet? SHEESH! I HATE ANIMAL HATERS!

Yes:( My mother told me after seeing a documentary on discovery they kill a few hundred elephants per day in Africa just to get their ivory tusks. Poor elephants. Sad Johnclement is right! This needs a drastic change or we'll end up being the only species on the planet!

Remember it's habitat loss, not poaching that is the biggest threat to most animals though.

If you've ever eaten Mcdonalds, then you're responsible for loss of Amazon rainforest to make way for cattle ranches.  If you eat anything with palm oil in it (waayy too many foods to mention), then you're responsible for loss of jungle habitat for Orang Utans and pygmy elephants in borneo.

Sadly, if you use bioethanol in your car (good thing right?) then you've also probably contributed to the loss of habitat for native creatures in order for palm oil to be produced to create the bioethanol...

Just because we don't wear fur coats doesn't mean we're not contributing to the demise of these wonderful creatures...

Not killing is the only major problem of extinction of species.Deforestation is also one the major reason like as growing of population is there. And decrement of quality of environment is also a major problem
